Cyber Saints October 13

Tomorrow evening is our annual Oktoberfest at the Leonard Knipstein barn (Bass Road and County Line Road). Festivities begin at 5:30 pm. You have to love the German food!

“Why Go to Church”
Last weekend we wrapped up the message series by looking at why we do a number of things that we do in worship. A number of folks have asked about a CD recording of the service – contact the church office and we can get one for you. We will continue the series in a different format in November: Sunday morning Bible Studies on November 3 and 24 will be devoted to this topic. There is a lot of extra stuff I ran across for this series I would like to bring to our discussion.

Voters’ Meeting
Sunday, November 10 at 9:15 am in the Fellowship Hall we will have our next Voters’ Meeting. This meeting is typically where we hear updates from all the various Ministry Boards. I believe Church Council will also have an update regarding our financial position.

Ministry Fair
Sunday, November 17 (and also after worship on Saturday, November 16) is our annual “Ministry Fair.” This is where we highlight all the various ways in which you are welcomed to participate in the ministry of Suburban Bethlehem. This will be in the Fellowship Hall after worship November 16 and also between 8:00 and 10:30 worship services on November 17, and also briefly after 10:30 worship service. I am looking for a group who would like to offer some light food and refreshments during the Ministry Fair as a fundraiser. This is a great way to see how you can be involved in the ministries of SBL and enjoy some fellowship together as well!

Persistent Prayer
The Gospel Reading this weekend focuses our attention on a parable Jesus tells. A widow who is persistent at asking an unrighteous judge to settle her case. The judge, who neither cared for people or feared God, finally gives in and grants her request. If an unrighteous judge can be moved into action, how much more will the loving and gracious God be moved into action through our prayers! Here is how we are to pray “and not give up!”

God bless you in Jesus!
